Rich of more than 20,000 residents, Pasua ward lacks the most basic equipment and educational resources. The street is the only place of
socialization for children and peer education has become the norm – not always with the most recommendable results if one is to judge by the
statistics of HIV/AIDS infection in the area.
The idea of creating a media centre sprung from the acute interest raised by some outreach seminars organized by Mkombozi, especially when videos
and books were used as a support to the discussion. The project would include a library, computers connected to the Internet and a conference room
with a capacity of 50 people hosting gatherings and lectures. After paying a small registration fee for the annual membership, local residents will
be able to use all the resources available at the centre and participate in various activities organized to sensitize the public to the importance
of reading to pursue one's educational goals. A professional librarian will manage the media centre.
