THE ORGANISATION
History
MVTCDC was created in 1999 as a community-based organization committed to liberating local residents from oppression, both social and economic.
The founder, Asha K. Mshana, is a retired home-economics teacher who decided to take advantage of her experience and her skills to support
vulnerable groups. The centre has grown and developed to welcome 71 students this year.
Mission
MVTCDC is a sustainable organization striving to empower community members – both youths and adults – by cultivating skills that will promote social and economic change.
Objectives
The main objectives of the MVTCDC project are:
- To provide quality education for youths from disadvantaged backgrounds – including orphans and disabled – for them to achieve self-reliance.
- To promote gender equality and women’s rights as legitimate concerns and encourage public support through Mkombozi Women’s Group.
- To encourage artistic talents under the tutelage of Mkombozi Youth Group.
As the community evolves, Mkombozi advances along side it and the programs are constantly progressing and adapting to ensure that together they
address the current needs of the community and continue to empower its members.
